Dr. Austen Morgan, an Archaeology professor with North Dobson University in Michigan, is currently following up on some research in Port Grace, Malta concerning a reference to a "golden way" in Port Grace mentioned in a diary recently unearthed in a seventeenth century Jesuit settlement in Michigan, that description alongside a drawing of a box, its contents unknown but which Austen believes may have contained whatever riches were brought to the New World from Port Grace. He is in a time crunch as he learns that he has one week to submit a proposal for the one and only funded project by the university for the year, if he gets it which would certainly guarantee securing his dream of the soon to be open tenured position. In Port Grace, he literally and figuratively has a few run-ins with local apiarist, Eva Bellacallea, those antagonistic encounters only exasperated by his fear of bees due to being highly allergic to their stings. Eva has only recently returned to this work in the family business and Malta following her mother's passing, her younger sister Chloe temporarily assisting specifically with the business' role in the town's imminent honey festival in taking a break in being passed over from a promotion in her marketing job. In moving a wild hive on the side of a building, Eva uncovers a fresco, the incomplete images which Austen believes may be keys to his research. With their work intersecting, Austen and Eva end up spending time together and start to fall for each other. Beyond the geographic differences in Austen having to head home to Michigan at some point in time, what happens between two of them may be affected by the intersection of their work and how one may impact the other, both for good and bad.—Huggo

Away for a romantic weekend where he had planned a grand gesture, Mick Turner and Olivia Pershing, co-proprietors of the Willow Lake Inn in Vermont, the inn's bread and butter business being weddings, are called back to the inn with the grand gesture having to wait when they learn that Olivia's daughter, Grace Pershing, to who Olivia gave her Long Island staging business in moving to Willow Lake, has showed up unexpectedly with her musician boyfriend, Eric Stratton, to announce their engagement. What Mick concurrently learns is that their next wedding clients - Abby Russo and Rob Atwell - have come a few days earlier than expected. While Mick, who has not worked directly on the wedding part of the business leaving such to Olivia, and to his daughter Julie before Olivia, vows to take care of Abby and Rob's wedding so that Olivia can focus on Grace and Eric, Olivia instead funnels all her A-type energies on Grace, turning into Motherzilla of the bride-to-be. Things between Olivia and Grace may get even more intense when Grace tells her the other news she has about what she intends to do when Eric and his band go on tour. What Mick does not anticipate in taking over whatever needs to be done for Abby and Rob is that Abby, from modest means marrying into an extremely wealthy family she does not know well, wants to make one change after another from her relatively simple but romantic initial wedding plans in wanting to impress the Atwells, especially when Rob's rather in-your-face younger sister, Kelsey Atwell, implies that "this is the way that it should be done" especially to match Rob and Kelsey's parents' wedding which was held at the inn years ago. Trying to impress may also change Abby's life aspirations in working as an artist full-time which is what she really wants instead of going back to law school which she almost completed before she had to drop out when her mother passed.—Huggo

Goldy and Marla are excited about the fun nature of their latest catering gig, a by invitation only medieval ball and dinner at Sir Alistair Harrows' home, Hyde Castle, it a fundraiser for Elk Park Prep Academy, the school that Olive attends, she who will be part of a fencing demonstration at the gala. A stickler for authenticity as his home is one big medieval castle without the latest technology such as computers, Internet or cell phones, Sir Alistair dictates to his butler Klaus that all the guests must be dressed in medieval costume, and only invited guests are to be allowed in. Among the guests are many from the Elk Park Police Department, including Tom, Mason and Dave. One uninvited person who is able to make his way in, just before a storm snows them all in, is US Marshal Gerard Trach, Dave's father, who has come to see Tom to question him about his convict father Edmund Schultz as he has escaped from prison, odd in that he would soon be eligible for parole after twenty-five years served for murder. Tom knows nothing about Edmund's whereabouts as he has not spoken to his father since he went to prison, with this news dampening his spirit just before he and Goldy are to go on a big date. Something else that dampens the entire evening is a murder, the victim who was just about to make a self-described earth-shattering announcement. Tom leads the investigation, with Mason and Dave providing official assistance, Gerard somewhat unofficial assistance, and Goldy her inherent sleuthing skills. Even if they don't know the nature of the victim's announcement, they discover that there are many possible suspects as the victim had many enemies among the guests who can't leave even if they wanted to because of the snow. But what Tom probably did not expect is that his father would factor into the proceedings.—Huggo

At the request of her father Truman Grange, Chloe Grange, the general manager at an upscale restaurant in Portland, Oregon, heads home to Grange Family Wineries in Oregon wine country for a week respite to hear her father's news which he wants to tell her in person. This time away from work, which coincides with the Valentine's Day Wine Festival, will also allow Chloe to ponder the job offer by her boss Maggie, the new job a lateral move albeit one with more pay. Deep in her heart, Chloe already believes she's gone as far as she can go in the restaurant business without being a restaurant owner herself, but without knowing what any alternative as a career for which she has equal passion would be. She, along with the winery management team, learn that Truman's news is that, following the death of his wife - Chloe's mother - he has decided to retire. With Chloe having her own career, he has also decided to sell the winery, the most likely candidate being one of the mass producing manufacturers, New York City-based Stratosphere, sell to a company like that Truman said he would never do. Conversely, Stratosphere wants this acquisition to have one of the most respected family-owned boutique wineries under its umbrella. The Stratosphere representative who will lead the negotiations is Seth Anderson, a city boy who knows nothing about wines, but knows business, he coming back with a deal which is a prerequisite to a promotion to VP. Chloe doesn't dislike Seth per se but wouldn't trust anyone in his position where the deal would be all about business and nothing about the passion behind the wine. While butting heads with Seth, Chloe begins an increasing flirtation of sorts with whoever is renting the Grange family cottage, the person who has taken it upon himself to do minor repairs around the cottage. The renter and Chloe leave each other messages on the kitchen blackboard, the renter signing his messages "handyman" and Chloe signing her messages "in need of repair". What Chloe does not know is that "handyman" is actually Seth, who in turn does not know that "in need of repair" is Chloe. In this situation, both Chloe and Seth may come to a realization of what they consider important in life, for Chloe also including what her next career move should be, which may not be as easy to achieve as just wanting it.—Huggo

Emily James showed great promise as a figure skater, but has not been in the public eye in eight years, then when she stopped skating competitively without a public statement as to why. Now, she lives in Lakeville, Michigan, where she grew up, works as a waitress at Hildy's Gourmet Café owned by her deceased mother's best friend Hildy Perdy who has always been a second mother to her, and teaches group skating to children. Emily's decision to quit competitive skating was not because she lost her love for the activity, as demonstrated by the fact that she is at the rink every every morning before it opens, skating for her own pleasure, and by she always willing to help Dave Shelton, the rink/skate shop manager, with skating parties. One of her former child pupils, Nikki Lee, is where Emily was eight years ago: the face of figure skating future. A young man, Spencer Patterson, has just been hired as Nikki's new coach, he who is to take her to a gold medal at the upcoming regionals. If she does so, it could also make Spencer's name in the sport as a coach. What Spencer did not anticipate in taking the job is having to deal with Nikki's stereotypical stage mother, Mia Lee, who believes she knows what's best for Nikki in all aspects of her skating. Spencer knows of Emily from her skating days, and seeing her skate again asks two things of her (in order): to be his co-coach for Nikki as a trusted person in her life; and for him to be her coach, he who believes she as talented a skater now as she was eight years ago and could be a force at the regionals. As Emily discloses why she stopped competing, she ultimately accepts both of Spencer's offers. As she starts to train again, Emily faces some of the same struggles she had in the past, including needing to make a living to put food on the table. But each of Emily, Spencer and Nikki, beyond wanting to do what's right for each of them, truly want what's best for the other two. Others external to three may have other thoughts, some who do not want to see Emily back as competition. The situation gets more complicated as an attraction starts to form between Emily and Spencer.—Huggo

It's just before Christmas. Ashley Harrison, who earns a living as a crafter currently in Sacramento but who sells her wares at craft fairs and markets around the country, is heading back to her small hometown outside of Seattle to be with her recently widowed mother, Sallie Harrison, for Christmas. She will be making the trip alone as she is still reeling from the break-up about one year ago of her last relationship, she not having dated since and who is still not ready to. However, something goes awry with her December 23rd Sacramento to Seattle plane reservation. Rather than deal with the airline bureaucracy, she reluctantly accepts the offer of someone else to share what is the last rental car at Sacramento Airport as he too needs to get to Seattle by tomorrow. He is house painter Dash Sutherland. They quickly find that they are like oil and water as they embark on their two day driving trip. And while Ashley is like an open book about her life to Dash, Dash offers little about himself to her in return. As they go on their trip, Ashley is unaware that the problem with her airline ticket was due to she being placed on the no fly list as FBI Agent Sam Munroe, who is the lead on her file, is certain she is a home grown radicalized terrorist. Novice Agent Phelps out of the Redding office is a last minute assignment to follow Ashley and Dash to watch her movements. Bumbling Phelps' actions, in addition to a lovestruck teenaged coffee shop employee named Travis, add to complications in Ashley and Dash's trip. Through it all, Ashley and Dash may discover that the other will change the nature of their Christmas holidays, Dash specifically with regard to the real reason he needs to go to Seattle.—Huggo

In the first step in working what for her are the coveted international flights, pilot Kate Gabriel is on her first probational flight working for Thomas and Helen Sharpe, who have their own home furnishings empire. One of the factors for them hiring her is her flexibility in being willing to pick up at a moment's notice in she having no personal commitments such as family. This flight on December 20th is from Los Angeles to Switzerland where the Sharpes and thus Kate will be spending the holidays, in addition to the Sharpes conducting some business in wanting to expand their brand into the European market. The flight doesn't end up as Kate hopes as a storm over the Atlantic grounds all transatlantic flights, the only airport where she can land being in a small coastal Nova Scotia community called Christmas Island. With it being the busy Christmas season, Kate and the Sharpes end up being hosted by the town's mayor Maggie Hughes and her family which also includes her father, the town's postmaster Jim McLeod, and her brother, air traffic controller Oliver McLeod, Oliver and Kate who had some choice words for each other in the flight being grounded. The duration of the grounding is unknown. Wanting to make a good impression on the Sharpes, Kate, who has nothing to do but wait out the storm along with everyone else, offers to help them with whatever they require while they are in Christmas Island. While Thomas and Helen try to do work in their stranding, what Helen requests of Kate is a job usually handled by hired help, namely finding Christmas activities the Sharpes' two children: fifteen year old Cali who is at the stage of her life of not liking anything about their family, and seven year old Finn who instead wishes for more of a Christmas with his family than they have had recently in especially their parents being too busy with work. This task is not the easiest for Kate in not being a Christmas person and having no family of her own. As such, she feels she has to enlist the help of the town's resident Christmas expert: Oliver. Their collective time together will either drive them crazy or bring them back together under the magic of Christmas, which for Oliver and Kate becomes more important personally as they start to fall for each other, with their Christmas spirit affected by whether they can make it to Switzerland by the 25th.—Huggo

Goldy and Marla are catering the Elk Park society wedding of the year, the bride, groom and many of their friends in the wedding party with who they went to school. The bride is Jessamyn, Tom's ex-wife, who Goldy is not surprised to find is the ultimate bridezilla. The groom is equally wealthy Sterling, whose family left town after high school. The maid of honor and best man are Katy, who used to date Sterling, and Ray who is Katy's current serious boyfriend. But not all is all right with this union in there being hard feelings between some on either side stemming from a business scam from years ago which some have never forgot or forgiven. On the morning after the rehearsal dinner, one key member of the wedding is found dead in the wedding venue hotel, and another has gone missing. While Tom starts to investigate, he is pulled from the case due to his association to Jessamyn, with Detective Dave Trach seconded to lead the investigation, Dave and Tom who have a history on many levels which has led to their animosity. Without even needing to ask the other, Tom and Goldy start investigating together, Goldy who has the benefit of knowing many of the players and their history. They nonetheless have to do their work without letting specifically Dave know what they're doing. It becomes more difficult for them, but especially Tom, when Dave places Tom on the top of his suspect list, part of that accusation based on their history.—Huggo

It's December 12th. The Christmas season is special for six year married Chicagoans Penny and Stuart Fischer, who met on a Christmas tree lot, they still buying their Christmas tree together, a Douglas fir, at that lot every year. Penny has worked to support Stuart's dream of publishing a book of his wildlife and nature photographs. She was his manager, but when they could no longer survive solely while working on the book, Penny got a 9-to-5 copywriting job at Belford Advertising to make ends meet. Although truly loving them, Penny and Stuart also took in Penny's younger sister Nicky, her husband Bryan and their two kids to further supplement their income. Penny is feeling frustrated this Christmas season because of Stuart's absences for photo shoots for the book, the final straw being Stuart getting a last minute call to go away tomorrow for another shoot to Alaska to complete the photographs needed for the book. As such, Penny expresses many of her frustrations and what she believes are her dreams because of those frustrations. Following a fall, Penny wakes up on December 13th having found that Jayne, a Christmas angel, has granted her dreams made in her off the cuff comments yesterday. Those dreams include being Senior Vice-President of Marketing at Belford, but perhaps more importantly to Penny that she is no longer married. Penny further learns that she had to be cutthroat in her business dealings to get that VP position, and that her dreams have consequences to others besides her and Stuart. As such, Penny wants her old life back, which Jayne tells her is impossible. So Penny has to make the best of the new life she is given, she feeling like a fish out of water as a VP. This new life does not stop her from trying to find Stuart and hopefully have him fall in love with her all over again, hopefully by the 25th to give her her true Christmas wish. Even if she can find him, it may be more difficult this second time around as Penny the VP is outside of Stuart's mentality, and will be dependent on things happening in Stuart's alternate life. Also complicating matters is Andrew Gillingham, the handsome young owner of Gillingham's Department Store - a potential client of Penny's - who sees Penny on his arms, he who will use his clout to get what he wants.—Huggo

Working for the boutique New York City-based agency Colvin Designs, theme park designer Tim Ericson and his native South African videographer Darius D'Checko have just arrived at the Ukubuyela Endle Wildlife Reserve in South Africa for a three week stay to conduct research for their next project, an immersive wildlife adventure themed attraction. There, they meet wildlife rangers, American Megan Henry, who works part-time while she completes her Ph.D. dissertation in big cat ethology, she close to doing her defense, and South African Kamara, who is nearing the end of her training. Getting off on the wrong foot in Tim and Darius unwittingly contravening what to them seems like a benign policy of no drones, one which does have important reasons for being in place and, if contravened, could risk Megan and Kamara their ranger licenses and thus their livelihoods, Tim and Megan, and Darius and Kamara embark on burgeoning romances, ones that will last probably at least for the duration of Tim and Darius' stay. As Tim and Megan seemingly reach the next stage of possible commitment, a stage that Megan cannot see happening in they just being in the wrong phases of their respective lives, their romance is already threatened with the arrival onto the scene of Amy Bradshaw, Tim's former college classmate who he has not seen in ten years since their college days and more importantly his ex-girlfriend. While Amy states her presence is to provide him the courtesy of the news that her father has purchased Colvin Designs and has placed her as head of the theme park division making her Tim's new boss, she has ulterior motives for wanting to see Tim in person. And as "boss" that is on the scene, she may have sway in what Tim and Darius decide to do to get what they need, policies be damned.—Huggo

For various reasons, all three of the adult Brenner brothers currently live with their single mother, Barbara, in the family home. Stephan lives in the granny suite in her back yard as a place to hide out, he an animal therapist in believing animals more reliable than people in he being anxious around his human counterparts, especially in crowds. Taylor, a video game engineer, lives in the basement as the irresponsible, disruptive one who always manages to sabotage good things in his life. And firefighter Luke, who lives in the main part of the house, is only there temporarily while he builds his own house, that temporary status so far being ten months and running as he is easily distracted in working on one other project or another for other people. Barbara's goal is for them and their Aunt Louise to spend Christmas together, despite the brothers having pulled away from each other ever since their father abandoned them when they were children, they not even usually decorating her house for her. With five days until Christmas, someone leaves a baby named Thomas at the firehouse specifically for Luke, probably the mother who, as per the note pinned to Thomas, only implores him to look after Thomas until Christmas when she promises to come back for him. Including being certain that Thomas isn't his son, Luke doesn't know who the mother is or why she chose him as Thomas' temporary caregiver. Asking for advice on what to do, he decides to look after Thomas with Barbara's help until Christmas, and if the mother doesn't return by then, he will take Thomas to family services. As Barbara is called away shortly thereafter on an emergency, the three brothers need to care for Thomas on their own, something they are ill-equipped to do. But with Thomas in their lives, they are forced to examine their interrelationships, including the underlying issues of why the way they are as individuals who have never really appreciated self-sacrificing Barbara.
