How Do You Know Chris? is a story that revolves around a deceivingly simple narrative, yet is able to plunge viewers into a dark labyrinthine world they can all easily relate to.The central character, the inherently flawed chameleon Chris Black, 28, throws a party. He's invited an assortment of guests to celebrate with him at his inner-city Melbourne apartment.The scene is set with an open bar and a bartender serving fancy cocktails and finger food. It's clear no expense has been spared. The only thing missing is their host.Most guests aren't overly familiar with one another, and are initially at great pains to mingle.To break the ice, guests discuss topics of conversation ranging from the intellectual and political, to some sexual in nature, and many that are just mind-numbingly mundane. It was a milestone era, fraught with simmering uncertainty and frayed nerves over the Y2K computer 'bug'.The bug would supposedly cause worldwide chaos and a complete breakdown of society via disruptions to water and electricity, food delivery, banking systems and transport. The sense of turbulence that simmers in the film is reflective of global events today - events that include natural disasters and unpredictable viruses - making it more relevant than ever.

1970 world cup in Mexico. Pele is under a lot of pressure. His form has declined, and age is not on his side. The pressure is building, and Pele hated it.Pele was born in 1940 in Brazil. Brazil was a poor and a developing country. His father was a footballer with nickname Dondinho. Maria Lucia is Pele's sister. Pele always looked up to his father and wanted to play football. His father got injured and the club stopped paying him, so Pele got a job polishing boots. Pele never thought he would become a famous footballer.
Dondinho delivered Pele could become a great footballer and moved the family to Santos, which had a football club. Pepe and Dorval recognized Pele's talent from the get-go. He was called up for the 1958 world cup in Sweden. Brazil wasn't known for football, and they weren't the favorites. People were astonished to see a black man (as they had never seen one before)1950 world cup was in Brazil and there were great hopes that Brazil would win the cup and step onto the world stage as a proud nation. But Brazil lost 2-1 to Uruguay. It was a tragedy.
1958. Brazil vs Wales, Quarter Final. Pele scores the winning goal. Brazil Vs France, semi-Final. Pele scores 3 goals in a 5-2 victory. Brazil vs Sweden, Final. Sweden went ahead, but Brazil won 5-2. Pele was a national hero at 17 years of age.
Everyone wanted Pele, and he was seen as royalty. He was the poor black kid, who made it big. Santos became a big club due to Pele. Santos even began to play with international clubs, due to Pele. By 21 years, he had scored 355 goals. Santos refused to sell Pele despite many lucrative offers.Pele put Santos on the world map and they became world champions of club football. Pele is now old and, on a wheelchair, but he still meets his old team-mates for lunch, and they exchange stories of their youth.
1962 world cup in Chile. Pele is 22 and is at the peak of his powers. But in the 2nd game against Czech, Pele was injured and didn't play in the world cup again. His replacement was Amarildo. Brazil plays the Czech in final. Amarildo scores and Brazil and now 2 times world champions.
Pele became the icon of a confident Brazil, taking its place in the world. Pele loved being the center of attention. In 1964, the military in Brazil under General Pinto, deposed the supposedly communist government. The coup was supported by the CIA to avoid Soviets expanding their influence in South America. Pele simply accepted the regime and lived with itPele married Rose in 1966. Pele had many commercial commitments and hence less and less time for family. This required more time than just playing football. Pele also admits that it was hard for him to remain faithful to his wife, with all the girls all over the world throwing themselves at him. Some of his affairs resulted in children. Pele claims his wife knew about his affairs.
1966 world cup in England. Expectations are sky high for Brazil to win a third time. Pele was captain. Opposition had a strategy to mark Pele out of the tournament. First match against Bulgaria. Pele is brought down by aggressive marking yet ends up scoring & winning. Next match is against Hungary. Hungary beats Brazil. Portugal is next. Portugal brings down Pele so hard that he has to be carried off the pitch. The refereeing was deplorable. In 8 days, there were more injuries in the Brazilian camp than in 8 years before that. Portugal wins and Brazil is out of the competition.Pele intends not to play in a world cup again as he thinks he is unlucky in world cups. 1968 was a yr of riots in Brazil as the dictatorship enacted Institutional act # 5, which took away all civilian rights and freedoms. Medici is the dictator, who used IA5 for all forms of torture and state capture. People simply disappeared.
Pele never aligned himself with any Govt but used football to rise above the politics and bring joy during the gloomiest times. Pele has reached 1000 goals in his career. 19th Nov 1969, Santos plays Vasco & Pele scores his 1000th goal. Pele represented hope in a torn country.
Pele met Medici and the public turned against him. People saw him as a submissive black man. Many people compare Pele to Muhammed Ali, who refused to fight the Vietnam war. Ali never faced torture or murder, but Pele didn't have that guarantee.1970 world cup rolled around in Mexico. Winning was crucial and support staff was made up of Military personnel. The dictatorship forced Pele to play in the world cup. Saldanha is the manager of the team and brings in changes to the Brazilian style of play. Saldanha and Pele never got along. Saldanha made up a story that Pele was short sighted and couldn't play. Pele was furious. Brazil FA intervened, and Pele was not dropped from the team. Saldanha was forced to quit by the dictatorship.
Zagallo came in 2 months before the world cup. He picks Pele to play.
First match against Czech. Pele is struggling and is not the same player as before. But Brazil somehow manages to score the first goal and Pele began to enjoy himself. His confidence returned. Brazil wins 4-1. Next is England, who are the current World Champions. The entire British defense goes after Pele, who helps his teammate score the first goal. Brazil wins 1-0.The team spirit was great. They beat Romania 3-2. The people knew that winning the world cup would bolster the dictatorship, yet the entire country supported their team. They beat Peru 4-2 in the Quarter Finals. Semi-Final is against Uruguay, to whom Brazil lost in the final of the 1950 world cup. The nation panics. Brazil was lucky to be 1-1 at half time. Pele transforms himself in the 2nd half and attacks relentlessly. Brazil wins 3-1.
Brazil plays Italy in the final. Pele is nervous and emotional. He prays to God before the final match. Pele scores, but in finals the side that scores first, mostly loses. Italy equalizes. Brazil scores the next 3 and wins the final 4-1. Pele had achieved his destiny.
3 years later, Pele said goodbye to Santos. He joined US club, Cosmos. 1283 goals in 1367 games. Only player to win world cup 3 times.

Dusty Cole is a young prostitute who lives with her boyfriend, Tony, in a small apartment above a street front store somewhere in Queens, New York. When Tony arrives home after grocery shopping, he is dismayed to see Dusty sitting around the small apartment, doing nothing. Tom and Dusty get into a big argument where Tony demands that she either get a job or clean up the place. Dusty manages to calm him down by pleasuring him with sex.When Tony leaves to go to work at his job as a bartender for the afternoon and evening shift, Dusty packs her suitcase, steals some items from his apartment including an old TV set and a tape recorder. She goes down the street to a pawn shop and tries to sell the items for cash. The sleazy owner, Sammy, refuses to give Dusty any money for the worthless items, but instead offers to give her $55 if she has sex with him in the back storage room. After having sex, Dusty tells Sammy that she wants to meet him later for lunch. While he is not looking, she steals an extra set of keys off a hook in the storage room. When she leaves the store and Sammy leaves soon after and locks up, Dusty returns, steals all the cash she saw him kept in a vase in the back room, as well as some silver items, and leaves the store, throwing the spare keys in a wastebasket outside on the street. Dusty then takes a subway train to Manhattan.The next morning, while walking down 42nd Street near Times Square, Dusty runs into an old friend, an aging drag queen hooker named Cherry Lane. After talking over coffee, Dusty shacks up with Cherry at his small apartment in the Lower East Side where they decide to team up to trade tricks like the old days when Dusty used to cruise 42nd street and hustle johns and other victims out of their money. There, a trick named Jimmie visits, and upon seeing Dusty, insists on hiring her instead of Cherry. Although Cherry is concerned that Dusty will steal her clients, she accepts Dusty's offer of half of her earnings. After Cherry leaves the apartment, Dusty insists that Jimmie have sex "normally," but as soon as they begin, he takes out a belt and whips her. Afterward, she inquires about his wife and recalls her own four-month marriage at the age of sixteen. When Jimmie, like all of Dusty's tricks, declares that his wife will not have sex with him, Dusty counsels him to be more honest and more demanding with his wife. He asks her to attend a poker game the next Friday night, in order to have sex with four men present, for a fee of $150. After agreeing, Dusty shies away when Jimmie touches her face, then tells him her reaction is "just a reflex."That night, Dusty and Cherry go to a bar with another homosexual prostitute, Billy. They are joined by the Simmons sisters, Susie and Sally, two loud and boozy streetwalkers with whom Cherry regularly spars. Susie and Sally show off some of their singing ability while talking about currently working at an off-off-Broadway theater to make some extra money on the sides. Finally, one of them slaps Cherry and a brawl briefly breaks out between them. As Mac, the bartender, tries to quell the minor brawl, it is here that Dusty meets Bob, a young yuppie at the bar and they both take an instant liking to each other.Dusty quickly entices Bob to take her to his house on Staten Island, and he asks her to be the first person to stay the night with him there. When he stares into her eyes, she flinches and asks that he not look too deep, but he responds that he is not looking for perfection. After making love, they admit that they are falling for each other, and even after she confesses her profession, Bob responds that everyone hustles in his or her own way. The following morning, Bob leaves for work and gives Dusty a copy of his house keys. Dusty phones Cherry, who at first assumes that Dusty plans to rob Bob, and upon realizing that Dusty is falling in love, insists that they meet for a discussion.By the ferry, Cherry warns her to be more disciplined with her emotions and not be too optimistic. Cherry is propositioned by a trick, but when she performs oral sex on him in a nearby warehouse, the man attacks her after Cherry's wig falls off, after which she and Dusty run off.At home, Cherry admits that behind her happy-go-lucky exterior, she is lonely and afraid, and is envious of Dusty finding love. Feeling that she cannot function in the straight world, Cherry cries at her lack of options. Dusty states that Bob makes her want to change and go "legit," and she plans to take it slow with him.Although Dusty announces that she is canceling her Friday night appointment at the poker game, Cherry, concerned that she is so quickly losing her new roommate and source of income, urges her to go. Dusty reluctantly concedes, and shows up to the game, where Jimmie, along with three card-playing friends, Walt, Joe and Carl, have a separate room available for her use. After the first man, Joe, takes his turn, Jimmie enters and, against Dusty's wishes, begins to beat her again. She races away in horror after taking all of his money, and then some, he plans to give her.Meanwhile, Cherry is at the bar, gossiping with the Simmons sisters about Dusty's waning appeal. Just then, an angry Dusty walks in, slaps Cherry, gives him the $150 cash that she earned and tells Cherry that she is moving out and never to talk to her again for setting her up with the creep Jimmie and his friends.Dusty heads to Bob's house on Staten Island, where they make love and talk throughout the night. In the morning, she walks with him to the ferry he takes to work, but as they step into the street, Bob is run over by a car. As a crowd gathers around, Dusty claims not to know him and runs off, collapsing in tears around the corner.In the final scene, set some time later in Times Square on the street outside the notorious Grant's Deli, Dusty is seen back to the only life she knows, turning tricks on the streets while clearly high on drugs.
