Fatty Arbuckle is a butcher boy working in a small town country store where they sell everything from frankfurters to fire escapes. He falls in love with the cashier, who is the daughter of the proprietor, and she, in return, has eyes for no one else. The careless clerk of the store resents the attentions being paid her by Fatty, and informs the old man. He keeps his "weather" eye on them both, and one day discovers Fatty sending her mental love messages, and forbids him to ever speak to her again. But Fatty is undaunted, and finds a way. Fatty also learns of the careless clerk's love for the girl, and when the latter objects to Fatty's love making they have a fight which ruins the store and ends in the old man sending the girl to a seminary. Fatty resolves to win the girl of his heart, and disguised as her cousin, gains admittance to the place, and, while having the time of his life, he is confronted with his hated rival, also dressed as a girl, who, with the village pest and another schemer, have decided to kidnap the daughter. "Luke" discovers the plot, and in his own particular way rounds the gang up, who are held at bay by the principal of the school while Fatty runs away with the girl to the nearest clergyman.—Moving Picture World synopsis

A rotund young man and his wife are spending the day at the beach at Coney Island. Feeling restless and wanting to go to the amusements at Luna Park, he ditches his wife. At the amusement park, he meets a pretty young woman. She arrived at the amusement park with one man and went in with another who had money to pay her entrance, before she ends up spending much of the day with the rotund husband, who managed to get the second man arrested. As the husband and the pretty young woman get into one misadventure after another, the first two men try to win back the affection of the pretty young woman, while the wife goes searching for her husband. The wife and the second man, who are old friends, team up in their quest, which leads to further misadventure for all five and the police.—Huggo

Charlie is an escaped convict, eluding his pursuers along the rocky sea coast. He dodges back and forth, and is driven into the sea, where he swims alongside a boat in which a bather is struggling to shed his sweater. Charlie steals his bathing suit and emerges, garbed as a bather, just as Edna's mamma is struggling in the water near the pier. "Big Eric," boastful of his strength, has been debating the advisability of attempting mother's rescue when Edna jumps in. Charlie saves them both and Eric pushes the rescuer back into the water. Charlie is rescued and taken to Edna's home, where he dons an oversized evening suit and takes part in social events. It develops that Edna's dad is the judge who sentenced Charlie, but he bluffs his way through this obstacle. Eric finds a newspaper announcing Charlie's escape and carrying his picture. Charlie fools the rest of the family by making whiskers on the picture but Eric calls the prison warden and Charlie is pursued from one part of the house to the other until he lands in the grasp of a big guard. Edna comes onto the scene as the guard grips Charlie's shoulder. The prisoner introduces the guard to the fair miss, and as his captor reaches to take the girl's hand, Charlie slips away.—Moving Picture World synopsis

When Charlie the Tramp wanders into a mission, he is smitten by Edna and puts back the collection box which he has taken. Reformed, he becomes a policeman and is assigned to rough-and-tumble Easy Street. Unable to trick or beat Eric the Tough, he puts Eric's head in a gas pipe and anesthetizes him. A hero, he now helps many poor people living on Easy Street. Eric escapes jail, Edna is kidnapped, but Charlie (recharged after sitting on a doper's needle) conquers all. Charlie is on his way to the USA. He wins in a card game, puts the money in Edna's bag (she and her sick mother have been robbed of everything). When he retrieves a little for himself he is accused of being a thief. Edna clears his name. Later, broke, Charlie finds a coin and goes into a restaurant. There he finds Edna, whose mother has died, and asks her to join him. When he reaches for the coin to pay for their meals it is missing (it has fallen through a hole in his pocket).—Ed Stephan

The foreman thinks they are homosexual and in the ensuing fight they become involved in a long pie throwing scene from one of the movies in production.
