Angad Singh Ranyal is filmy, not the type to hold his belt buckle and dance at every Salman Khan song, rather the type who likes to watch their movie in peace. The stand-up special has observational humor and storytelling with a sprinkle of filmy-ness. Angad starts the show with something that's very close to his heart- his preferred choice of popcorn flavor and why that should be the only flavor available at movie halls. He cannot understand why people discuss plots while watching a movie or why people bring their toddlers to a movie hall or even their 5 year olds or why the anti smoking ads have to been shown to non-smokers as well, clearly he can't understand a lot of things. After Angad turned 31, he realized that he should have chosen better friends when he was 20. And now he lacks the motivation to make new friends, thus he uses this platform to spread a very important message- choose your friends. Most stories these days have a bad story line so Angad tries to address the fact by telling 3 stories in his stand-up special. The first story starts with a car ride and ends with a fight, second story starts in a school and ends with a fight, the last story starts in an office and you guessed it right, it ends with Angad finding himself in a deeper hole than Bruce Wayne in Dark Knight Rises. Hopefully by the end of the show, you too will say- Angad, you are Kaafi Funny.

The film begins with Masuo Sakurada receiving a telegram from his cousin Terumichi. He is traveling with his cousin Ritsuko to check out his cabin and see if the telegram is true. Masuo has a flashback to the ceremony on the first anniversary of his father's death, after he and his mother are repatriated to Japan from Huludao. Because his younger brother died before they returned from the former Manchukuo, Masuo is expected to live for two sons.Throughout each of the ceremonies, the tangled family web is revealed, with numerous instances of incest that make the relationships between each of the family members somewhat unclear. The continued incest is not only expected amongst the family. Masuo himself is interested in Setsuko, and later Ritsuko, and finds himself in competition with Terumichi for them.Masuo finds himself sacrificing much of his freedom for the family. He has a talent for baseball, but gives it up when his mother dies and he is not present. He burns all of his baseball possessions except his glove. His sacrifice reaches its climax when he goes through a marriage ceremony to an absentee bride at his grandfather's insistence. He finally releases his frustration and hatred for his grandfather afterward. His grandfather dies years later, and at his memorial service Masuo is asked by his uncles to marry as quickly as possible to have another heir to the family lineage.Masuo and Ritsuko finally arrive at Terumichi's cabin in the film's final segment, to discover that the telegram informing them of Terumichi's death is true. Ritsuko feels an obligation to commit suicide next to Terumichi, because he had been her lover. Masuo leaves the scene, and outside has a flashback to a childhood memory of playing baseball with his cousins and Setsuko, who have all died.

Among these are an awkward sex talk regarding composer Leonard Bernstein's perceived homosexuality, and a humorous incident wherein six-year-old Mulaney was compared to a Nazi for failing to intervene during an act of schoolyard bullying.The focus of the performance shifts to Mulaney's childhood, as he recalls the rituals associated with elementary school assemblies and the unusual antics of JJ Bittenbinder, a retired Chicago police detective tasked with informing pupils of "stranger danger". Bittenbinder has since expressed his dismay with Mulaney's parody, disputing the notion that he ever "wore a three-piece suit with a cowboy hat"[16]. Mulaney then examines his tertiary education in similar detail, despairing over student loans and the "audacity" displayed by his former college, Georgetown University, in approaching alumni for donations.Domestic life and the process of donating to Goodwill are skewered in the midst of the performance, before Mulaney details a lawsuit in which his college friends were sued for purported property damage. His failure to address the situation effectively transitions into a self-deprecating segment about the physical and psychological trauma associated with ageing. The relationship between ageing and alleged "grumpiness" segues into a comparison between the most memorable guests that appeared during his tenure on Saturday Night Live (1975), including Patrick Stewart and Mick Jagger.Mulaney's perception of the "olden times" prefaces his frustrations with the online Captcha test routinely mistaking him for a robot. His fascination with "old-timey things" is illustrated by a description of a Connecticut gazebo built during the American Civil War, an act he compares to "performing stand-up comedy now" in the uncertain political climate of the 2010s. This analogy introduces an extended metaphor comparing "this guy we call President" to a "horse loose in a hospital", and reveals Mulaney's rationalisation for his previous disinterest in politics. The joke was first performed in public during Mulaney's 2017 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2015).Mulaney's disdain for "these new Nazis" associated with the presidential establishment culminates in a loving evaluation of his three-and-a-half-year marriage to Annamarie Tendler, a make-up artist and lampshade designer of Jewish heritage. The contrast between their religious upbringings is emphasised by an anecdote concerning their French Bulldog Petunia, as an attempt to recreate Da Vinci's The Last Supper revealed her mistaken belief that Jesus and his disciples were depicted celebrating Thanksgiving.Stories from Mulaney's religious upbringing form the closing segment to the show, as he recalls Biblical stories, homilies and psalms that informed his religious education as a child.

For the American-released verison of the film, and likely any version shown in English-speaking countries, director Rene Clair (evidently no fan of subtitles) devised a unique approach in eliminating English sub-titles; in a contrived prologue Maurice Chevalier appears, sings a short introductory song, and then serves as an off-screen narrator. The only language heard in this version is French, with Chevalier heard throughout explaining what is being said, sometimes translating word for word, and sometimes summing up when there is a pause in the French dialogue or, often, just commenting over the toned-down conversations. This device worked and didn't work but makes this version a delight for fans who just liked to hear Chevalier talk...and talk...and talk, sometimes over himself. In addition to many other awards this film also won the Grand Prize at the Brussels World Film Festival in 1947. Simple plot finds film-producer Chevalier playing "protector" at his studio over the daughter (Marcelle Derrien)of a friend of his that is on tour. He falls in love with her and keeps her away from all men. His young friend (Francois Perier)returns from the Army, meets and falls in love with the girl...and she, with him.—Les Adams
