A late 1960s to present day 2019 history of Broadway is presented, with an epilogue added of the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 literally shutting the theater scene down in its entirety for however long public health orders related to the pandemic. That transition over the fifty years saw musical theater be arguably the center of American popular culture in providing the popular songs of the day and successful Hollywood movie adaptations of both of musicals and plays up until the counter-culture era of the 1960s, to a more narrowly defined but still very lucrative form of entertainment for those associated with the few hits that become global spectacles. People associated to Broadway, including many actors, talk about their relationship to Broadway in a holistic sense. The discussions are not only about the theater scene, but how specific shows changed the face of theater, including the way that shows are produced, how the built environment, especially along 42nd Street and around Time Square, has in turn affected the face of Broadway in that holistic sense, and the effects of certain specific global events such as the AIDS crisis, 911, and the aforementioned COVID-19 pandemic. While many producers have tried to capitalize on the successes of the day, it is the arguably the surprise hits that come out of nowhere approximately once every five years that fundamentally do change how theater is viewed. Those shows mentioned include the musicals of Stephen Sondheim beginning with "Company", "A Chorus Line", "Cats" which was the first true mega-hit of the British musical invasion, the ten plays of August Wilson each story covering a different decade of the twentieth century, "Rent", "The Lion King" which was different even from the other Disney animated musicals that preceded it, and "Hamilton". Also discussed is the change from the mid-twentieth century where going to see a Broadway show was an affordable regular local night out on the town, to where it is in 2019 generally unaffordable to the general population in its commodification.—Huggo

The film opens at the 2018 March For Our Lives in Los Angeles, where thousands of demonstrators with powerful signs converged in a turning point in the long fight to curb gun violence in America. How long? We see footage of 20 years prior at the Million Mom March in Washington, D.C., where speakers and marchers echo many of the same points. The film explores why things don't change, following the NRA's influence in politics. Even after Sandy Hook, the NRA watered down and then derailed a modest background checks bill, using misinformation that the bill would create a registry. This information is spread using the NRA's own database of gun owners which has added millions of names without permission. The NRA's political influence is explored through their membership numbers claims, use of coordinating vendors with Republican candidates, and their direct efforts to elect Donald Trump. At the same time, the amount of election interference by Russia is considerable, ranging from hacking election vendors to U.S. power plants, and a review of Soviet history shows the troubling efforts to undermine American democracy. Similarly, Republicans like Senator Joseph McCarthy were vehemently anti-Russia, underscoring the change of attitude toward Russia in recent years. The film takes a deep dive into the story of Maria Butina and Aleksandr Torshin, a pair of Russian nationals who became NRA members in a brazen effort to influence American politicians. Along the way, the NRA committed numerous financial violations and broke campaign finance laws, which would typically result in a loss of tax-exempt status, as the film's last part details.

Director Raed Andoni places a newspaper advertisement in Ramallah. He is looking for former inmates of the Moskobiya interrogation centre in Jerusalem. In his ad he asks that the men should also have experience as craftsmen, architects or actors. After a casting process that almost feels like role play, he arranges for a replica of the centre's interrogation rooms and cells to be built to scale inside a hall - under close supervision from the former inmates and based on their memories. In this realistic setting the men subsequently re-enact their interrogations, discuss details about the prison, and express the humiliation they experienced during their detention. Using techniques that are reminiscent of the so-called 'theatre of the oppressed' they work together to dramatise their real-life experiences. Their reconstruction brings long repressed emotions and undealt with trauma to the fore. Working on the film takes its toll on the men - both physically and mentally. The director also appears in front of the camera; not only is he creating a stage for his protagonists, he is also coming to terms with his own fragmented memories of imprisonment in Moskobiya thirty years previously.
