A frightened woman is running barefoot on a highway, trying desperately to flag a car. After several cars pass her by, the woman sees another car approaching, and to make sure either the car stops, or she's killed, she stands in the path of the oncoming car. Private Investigator Mike Hammer is at the wheel, and after almost hitting the woman, he tells her to get in. The woman's name is Christina Bailey. She is obviously on the run, being barefoot and wearing nothing but a trench coat, and the scent of fear. Whoever was after her eventually catches up with them. Megan is the one person show behind the business Christmas for Hire, which centers on her expert DIY skills to fix any Christmas decorating or entertaining problem, especially at the last minute. Beyond having paying customers, most desperate for her to fix whatever problems they may be facing, she also donates much of her time to charities, such as her best friend Jenny's charity, Big and Little Heroes. It is also through Jenny's 9-to-5 job that Megan meets Chase, the head of his own lucrative design firm. He is outwardly the man of her dreams, Jenny encouraging Megan to pursue those dreams in believing they being a good match, which Chase obviously believes as well in they starting to date. One of Megan's customers this season is Trinkets and Toys, which sells artisan crafted items only. Owner/operators Kurt and Mike hire her for the straightforward job of decorating the Christmas tree in their store, they out to impress David, their only potential investor in Kurt's goal to expand the business to be able to compete against the big box retailers whose business model he doesn't want to emulate in keeping to those artisan crafted items. But in a mix-up leading to a misunderstanding, Kurt and Mike feel they have no other choice but additionally to hire Megan solely to be the face of the pitch to David, Kurt who wants to limit her involvement otherwise in he being the brains behind the pitch. Megan and Kurt's initial animosity toward each other due to the situation is exacerbated by Kurt not wanting her involved otherwise despite she believing her skills making her a benefit. But as Megan and Kurt begin to spend more time together, they each begin to believe that they have a copacetic outlook on life and that they work well as a team in striving for common goals. With Chase still in the picture, Megan may not be able to see that while he is the man of her dreams, he is not a kindred spirit like Kurt with who she is truly falling in love. What happens between Megan and Kurt may depend on the outcome of the pitch to David and what role each of Megan and Kurt plays in that success or failure.—Huggo

Fond de l'Etang is a boarding school for troubled boys located in the French countryside. In the mid-twentieth century, it is run by the principal M. Rachin, an egotistical disciplinarian whose official unofficial mantra for the school is "action - reaction", meaning that there will be severe consequences for any boy out of line. This approach does not seem to be working as the boys as a collective are an unruly bunch. In turn, the teachers don't teach, but are always watching out for the next subversive act from the boys. January 15, 1949 marks the arrival to the school of the new supervisor, M. Clément Mathieu, a middle-aged man who is grasping at finding his place in life after a series of failed endeavors. Although he does find the boys an unruly lot, Mathieu does not believe in the "action - reaction" policy, and as such, butts heads with Rachin while secretly undermining the policy. Slowly, Mathieu's approach of trying to match the discipline to the crime does have a positive effect on a handful of students. With the reluctant approval of Rachin, Mathieu begins a grander experiment of trying to transform the overall atmosphere within the school, core within the experiment being to start a choir among his students. This move is a difficult one for him as a failed musician, as well as for the initially reluctant students. During this process, Mathieu focuses on two different students for two different reasons. Pépinot, a younger boy, seems to lack guidance and focus, and who always says he is waiting for Saturday when his father will pick him up, he who never does. And Pierre Morhange, an older student, is the anachronism: introverted, but prone to outbursts of individual subversiveness - the devil with the face of an angel as the other teachers describe him. Behind the reason for his subversiveness, which Mathieu slowly learns, Morhange hides a love of music and a true talent in it. Beyond overcoming the obvious obstacles of Rachin and the students' skepticism and Rachin's egotism, Mathieu has another challenge in newly arrived Pascal Mondain, a truly troubled older boy with pathological tendencies whose presence alone may wreak havoc throughout the school, and not just with Mathieu's project. Over fifty years later, Morhange and Pépinot, who have not seen each other since that time and who did not spend that much time together while at school, are reading through Mathieu's memoirs from his time at the school, which unmasks the reason why the two are privy to the memoir and the effect he had on their lives.—Huggo

In Seattle, Amanda owns and operates Made for You, With Love, where she designs custom-made wedding dresses starting from second-hand dresses, thus giving her customers designer dresses at a fraction of the cost. A one-person show with the exception of volunteer time from her best friend Allie when she isn't at her day job, the business is a passion project at which Amanda makes little money, which isn't important as some life curves, including a failed engagement, made her focus on what makes her happy. The failed engagement has made her man-shy, but were she looking, she would want someone reliable and predictable with good communication skills--missing aspects in her ex-fiancé which she felt were the downfalls of that relationship. Allie encourages her to start dating again, and she does end up following-up with Keith, a lawyer she met at the wedding of one of her clients--and who seems to tick off every box. At the same wedding, she didn't click with James, the photographer, so when out of circumstance James asks her to be the subject of a feature article for "Weddings Refined Magazine," with a permanent job on the line for him if this feature turns out well, she initially declines.
