Jeremy Rollins is a young man with a very strange affliction. He has the uncanny and uncontrollable ability to deflect any physical attack and its associated pain and injury to the attacker's closest relationship. Born with this condition, Jeremy's mother had the foresight to home school him and limit his contact to the outside world. She feared that if he were ever discovered, men in white coats would conscript and subject him to unspeakable experiments. This upbringing makes him awkward and childlike, and upon the unexpected passing of his mother, Jeremy is forced to confront a corrupt town and face the realities of a harsh society and the cruelties of its people. He encounters a variety of unsavory town folk - a dominating bully who is the sheriff's son, the sheriff who is in the pocket of a corrupt banker, a gold-digging temptress and a reverend who has lost his way. But a local waitress, Jess, who sees something very special in Jeremy, befriends him. Through a series of physical altercations with the town locals, Jeremy's strange condition is slowly unveiled to Jess. When confronted by her, Jeremy reluctantly discloses his "powers" and its consequences. With each altercation, Jeremy gains additional insight about his condition and its nuances. When Jeremy later learns the truth surrounding the demise of his mother, a showdown between he and the town's authority results in the death of the sheriff's son. Upon seeing this and for the first time in his life, Jeremy takes action that is not rooted on confusion or fear, but from acceptance of his condition. Jeremy channels and embraces his gift to express the teachings of compassion at the ultimate level.

The year is 1947, the British are on the verge of finally leaving India. Amongst the few who are sorry to see the British leave are the Anglo-Indians, half British and half Indian, for they are going to miss the patronage of their white cousins, the job reservations, and the important status and positions they currently hold. The British, quite frankly, do not think well of Anglo-Indians, nor do the Indians. Victoria Jones is one such Anglo-Indian, a WAC in the British Army, her father a railway engine driver, and her mom a housewife. She is close to another Anglo-Indian, Patrick Taylor, but changes her mind about him as he harbors deep hatred for the Indians. She witnesses Col. Rodney Savage instruct his soldiers to pour filthy water and garbage at the hands of untouchables on high-caste men and women who are protesting by laying down on the railway tracks to prevent trains from moving. Repulsed and shocked at this, she turns to Ranjit Singh Kassi, a Sikh, and longs to be Indian. She even accompanies him to the Gurudwara in order to change her faith. Then circumstances make her change her mind in favor of Rodney Savage. What Rodney does not know is that Victoria harbors a deep dark secret - a murder of a white British Officer named Graham McDaniels, on one hand, and of her knowledge of a terrorist named Ghanshyam - the one who was responsible for stealing explosives from a stranded train - and who may use these to bring the railways to a halt by planting them on the tracks, his motive to disrupt the railways, and to kill the passengers of a train. This is a documentary essay composed entirely of archive photographs and documents of the first big massacre of the Jews in Romania: in the city of Iasi, on the 29th of June 1941, more than 10.000 Jews were killed - first by bullets, than by asphyxiation in freight trains.
The film, which is an attempt to use the montage of archive materials in order to offer a deep and special view of History, has two parts:
The first part of the film could be titled "the encyclopaedia of the dead": photographs of the people who were eventually killed by the Romanian army and by civilians are accompanied by voices who recite the documents related to their fate in the massacre: witness accounts, testimonies from the post-war trials, interviews with survivors, private diaries etc.
The second part, shorter, represents a montage of the remaining photographs of the actual massacre (taken mostly by the German soldiers who were in town).
Why a montage film with photographs and texts related to the Jassy pogrom of 1941? Because, as Georges Didi-Huberman shows, "Montage will precisely be one of the fundamental responses to this problem of the construction of historicity. As it has no simple orientation, montage evades theologies, montage escapes theologies, makes visible the remainders, the anachronisms, the encounters of contradictory temporalities that affect every object, every event, every person, every gesture. Thus, the historian gives up telling "a story", but, by doing so, he succeeds in showing that history cannot go without all the complexities of time, all the layers of archaeology, all the dottings of the destiny."
