ANOTHER MACROTIGER REVIEW : Rebecca De Mornay vehicle. Cop-film-noir films aren't really our bag. Music is sort of 1970s horror music and 1980s Michael Mann combo, until really bad funk enters during the handball game. Music completely falls about 30 minutes in to film. Acting is not bad. Rebecca De Mornay (40 or 41 here) still looks great seventeen years after Risky Business (1983). Dialogue and story are pretty bad. Camera : annoying camera jump cuts and white-outs and other camera conceits. Camera work is uneven . Some good scenes, very 1980s look. Some scenes don't work. Scenes of Rebecca De Mornay's character in bed with pet pig are a drag. Keiffer Sutherland fills the roll. Utah doesn't really look like NYC, but then again, its a low budget film. Too many close-ups.

She gives a lift to Amy that tells that her friends from the Boston University Mike, Greg, Tammy and Lisa and she had traveled in a RV to Arrowhead to research the area as part of a discipline in their course. When they stopped in a gas station, the attendant Billy advised them to avoid the place in Bradford City called "Devil's Playground" by the locals. While digging in an area where a mine collapsed on 19 December 1967 killing 239 coal miners, they find preserved bones that they believe belonged to the Indians. In 1981 in the troubled Poland, when the father of the medical student Wietold Dlugosz dies, he asks one year leave to the dean of the university to rethink his vocation to medicine. He decides to travel to Warsaw, but while running after the train in the station, three possible events happen. In the first possibility, Witek reaches the train, meets his former sweetheart Czuszka that belongs to an Anti-Communist underground movement and joins the Party after saving hostages of protesters in a building. In the second possibility, Witek is caught by a guard in the station while running to catch the train and reacts, being sent to the court and sentenced to thirty days of community work. He joins the group of students that are against the system, publishing papers in an underground press. While his comrades are arrested by the government agents, Witek is having a love affair with the sister of a childhood friend and escapes from prison; however, his former companions believe he is a traitor. On the third possibility, Witek does not reach the train and decides to return to the university and conclude the medicine course. He marries his girlfriend Olga and they graduate in the medical school. They become successful doctors and Witek accepts to travel to Paris to present the lecture of the dean, who was disgraced with the Party when his son was arrested in a movement against the government. The film is an acknowledged remake of a French movie, Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, which told the story of a southern postal employee unhappily transferred to the north. But in an Italian context, and with a self-pitying northern hero dispatched to the Mezzogiorno, the plot acquires more political bite. That is a view that would no doubt be endorsed by the wife of the film's hero. She is the leader of a thinly disguised Northern League vigilante patrol with a sense of civic duty so strong she will not let her son accept a balloon from a street trader unless it is accompanied by a valid tax receipt. When her husband, played by Claudio Bisio, is posted south of Naples, she buys him a flak jacket.What he finds is something at odds with his prejudices. The people of the hilltop town of Castellabate are admittedly incomprehensible. And they eat disgusting things (he is served sanguinaccio, a blend of pig's blood and chocolate, for breakfast).But they are friendly, honest and live in a place of heart-stopping natural beauty. In France, the orphan Martine leaves her boyfriend Serge one day before the scheduled to work as a caregiver in a remote retirement home he has arranged for her in the countryside. She has a cold reception from the lame servant Flavien and the owner, Hélène, explains that they have not prepared a room for her yet. Further, she will need to remain secluded for the next two months for adaptation purpose. Soon she knows the other caregiver, the young Nicole, who introduces her to the seven weird guests of the house that are vegetarians and shows the work itself to her. They befriend each other and Nicole promises to show the photo of her beloved boyfriend, but she does not have time since Hélène allows that Martine meets Serge. While she leaves the house, Nicole is attacked by the elders that kill her and eat her organs. When Martine returns, Hélène tells that had an argument with Nicole and fired her, and transfers Martine to Nicole's room.
